Brief recap of Stage 2:

The weather was overcast and cooler than yesterday, with better than seasonal temperature. The runners had no apparent injuries and were in good spirits.

Stage 2 was a time trial, with runners starting 1 minute apart, in reverse order of finish from Stage 1. Many participants stated that the nature of the time trial did put additional pressure on them. Each Stage has unique challenges, and the unknown pacing of rival competitors in a time trial adds to the challenge of Stage 2.

Taking full advantage of the privilege earned from his Stage 1 victory, Brad started last and could observe and react to the pace set by Bob. Brad gradually closed the 1 minute stagger, until passing Bob just past the 8 km mark. Brad’s Stage 2 victory has now increased his overall lead to 1:39, retaining the Gold Jersey. Congratulations Brad.

The Runners’ Choice Distance Dude’s relay team is on pace to set a new Relay record, which will be exciting to follow.

We had 5 Guest runners in this Stage, including Katrina who is attempting to run the first 6 Stages, and Jay who is a 2004 ENDURrun 160 km finisher. Thanks also to Tracey, Tara and Jody, we hope you enjoyed the experience.

Thanks also to the City of Cambridge for hosting this Stage.

Heavy rains have begun, which will make tomorrow’s trail run even more difficult. But these runners are focused on completing their incredible challenge, regardless of the conditions.

Congratulations participants. Rest well tonight for the big test tomorrow. Good luck!
