Brief recap of Stage 4:
Today’s course certainly had its ups and downs! As The ENDURrun entered the hilly Stages, runners were faced with 10 miles of hills, finishing on a long, steep incline. The weather was hot, but again not humid like the summer has been, making for better than expected conditions. Being the only Stage held in the evening, this allowed for a few more hours of extra rest and recovery, and also added a little change of pace. The 600 m walk to the start line as a group allowed the participants to build on the amazing camaraderie that has developed.
Mike Strano continued his excellent string of performances, looking comfortable in his victory in Stage 4 while adding almost 5 minutes onto his overall lead. Tim Clarke continues to gradually build up his lead over 3rd place in the overall standings with his 4th straight 2nd place Stage finish. For the forth consecutive Stage, there was a different 3rd place finisher, with April Boultbee capturing 3rd place in Stage 4. Both Mike and April once again retained their Gold jerseys.
Brian Miller of the Investors Group Relay team ran a great Stage today and added to his team’s comfortable overall lead.
Guest runners Bradley Cunningham and Maryanne Strano completed their 2nd and final Stage of The ENDURrun, while Steven Cage joined the event for today’s run. Thanks for taking part. Bradley actually won today’s Stage and could be a contender in the Ultimate division one year.
Each and every runner ran remarkably well today - congratulations! If fatigue was present, it was not evident. Spirits are high. Tomorrow is a well-deserved and much-needed rest day, a time needed to prepare for the most gruelling of the Stages on Friday morning.
Unfortunately, Gideon Steinberg was forced to withdraw due to injury following Stage 3. Knowing Gideon’s competitive nature, this was a very difficult decision for him. We wish Gideon all the best, and hope to see him back again when healthy.
