Brief recap of Stage 3:

Distance and terrain were the new challenges faced by the participants in Stage 3. 30 km of mostly trail running, after back to back road races the previous two days, would be physically demanding. The 6-loop format would also test their mental toughness, and concentration would be a necessity. The weather condition was hot, but not humid. There was also shade from the hot sun for half of the 30 km distance while on the trails. An expertly flagged and marshalled course allowed the participants to focus entirely on their running.

Mike Strano has now opened up a commanding overall lead after capturing victory in this Stage. It was evident that Mike was conserving his energy to this point and used this Stage to break away. Congratulations Mike for retaining the Gold Jersey. Tim Clarke held on to a 2nd place finish against a late charge by Adam Johnston. April Boultbee also retained her Gold Jersey due to her fine performance today.

The Investors Group Relay team has now taken over the lead from the Runners’ Choice Distance Dudes and hold a commanding lead after 3 Stages.

Both Guest runners ran very well today. Thank you Bradley Cunningham and Tereza Macel for taking part.

The incredible perseverance of all of the participants could be witnessed as they passed by each loop. Each participant is on a personal journey and have personal goals, and it is inspiring to see. They should all be extremely proud of their accomplishments so far.

The continuity of care from Dearborn Health has been most appreciated. Thanks for caring!

The two difficult hilly Stages are up next. Good luck!
