Brief recap of Stage 7:

8 Days . . . 7 Stages . . . 160 km . . . 1 Tough Runner!

At 8:00 a.m. under ideal weather conditions, 9 courageous runners were at the start line of the 7th and last Stage of the first ENDURrun. Imagine what they have already run, and then imagine what they now have to run. It was an unforgettable moment.

Feeling strong and confident, Charles Bedley amazed everyone but himself by running an incredible 2:35:31 marathon on a challenging, rolling course to capture not only this Stage, but the overall ENDURrun championship as well. Running his pre-event strategy to a tee, Charles maintained his strong, controlled pace throughout each and every Stage, regardless of his competition. He has now set the high standard for those who choose to accept the challenge of The ENDURrun in the future. A fine and deserving champion, Charles is expected to return in 2004 to reclaim his Gold Jersey.

The format of The ENDURrun combines endurance and speed, patience and control, pacing and strategy. It combines road racing with technical trail running. It combines flat Stages with mountain Stages. It has time trials and mass starts. It has the pressure and challenge of racing day after day, without allowing for complete rest and recovery. It is the ultimate running challenge and a runners' ultimate goal. The ENDURrun does not favour one discipline over another, and as such, the winner of The ENDURrun is the most complete runner. Congratulations CHARLES BEDLEY 2003 ENDURrun Champion!
