Similar to Stage 2, Stage 6 was a time trial, with runners starting 1 minute apart, in reverse order of their cumulative time standings after the first 6 Stages. Charles Bedley, wearing the Gold Jersey, started last and had the advantage of seeing his rivals ahead. Unsure of the health or strategy of the faster Rich Tremain, who won the 15 km Time Trial and has run a sub 30 minute 10 km, Charles kept Rich in sight the entire way and captured his 4th consecutive Stage victory by a comfortable 32 seconds. Sticking with his plan of not easing up, Charles now has a 26:34 lead heading into the last Stage and his best event, the marathon.

All participants had many reasons to run easier today, but all ran remarkably well, and they should be applauded for their competitiveness and sportsmanship.

Being a point-to-point course, the runners faced a head wind most of the way, but with the bright sun and cool temperatures, the conditions were ideal. In fact, the weather conditions for the entire ENDURrun has been exceptional.

Our volunteers, and especially the massage therapists, have done all we can for the participants to this point. Now, can the participants endure a marathon after running 6 races over 7 days, totalling 117.8 km of beautiful yet challenging Waterloo County roads and trails? Stay tuned for our final update tomorrow, as the exciting 1st Annual ENDURrun concludes.
