Brief recap of Stage 5:

"By far the toughest Stage!" was the unanimous consensus among all participants. "Humbling" added Karin. Stage 5 was strategically placed after the only rest day due to the unrelentless, extended hill climbs, which was magnified in toughness due to the 5 lap course and 30 degree temperature.

With his main rival still bothered by injury, Charles stated that he was not going to ease up. With daunting hills before him, Charles pounded out the laps with increasing pace. He negative split his last 3 laps, and finished with his fastest lap, to put another 11 minutes and 33 seconds into his overall lead which now stands at 26:02.

Rich continued to show tremendous courage, surprising many by even attempting such a demanding course while struggling with injury. On a promising note, his 5th lap time was the 4th fastest overall lap time of the day.

Also, Ian Kennedy surged into 3rd place overall with his strong effort today.

Coming off a long, hilly cross country run, the participants must now prepare for a short, flat, fast 10 km time trial on the roads. The variations in distance, terrain and elevations, combined with the challenge of competing in 7 of 8 days, plus the unique characteristics of each Stage, truly makes The ENDURrun the ultimate goal of runners wanting the ultimate challenge.
