Brief recap of Stage 4:

The turning point? With only 1 second separating Charles Bedley and Rich Tremain heading into the two most hilly Stages, there was great excitement and anticipation as the group walked the 600 m to the start line. Expecting to run in the mid 50's and determined to take back the Gold Jersey, Rich immediately took the lead. Dramatically, after only 1 km, Rich experienced a leg problem and was forced to fall off the pace. Charles continued on with his pre-event strategy of strong and steady pacing for each and every Stage, and won comfortably in 58:05 on a very hilly and challenging course. With his strongest Stage (the marathon) still ahead, and still running efficiently, Charles is situated very well in the overall standings.

Rich showed tremendous courage to even finish this Stage while coping with his injury. This demonstrated exactly what it takes to complete The ENDURrun - the will to persevere under extreme physical and mental conditions.

This was the only evening Stage, and following a much needed rest day tomorrow, the participants head to Chicopee Ski Club to continue with the second of the two most hilly Stages. After 82.2 km, gruelling hills remain, but all the participants are up for the challenge and their spirits remain high.
