At first I thought that the ENDURrun was beyond me. Watching it and participating as a guest runner in 2006 gave me the courage to train, under the guidance and wisdom of Ray Nelson, as an ENDURrun 2007, 2008 and 2009 Ultimate competitor. The ENDURrun is more than a race. The personal attention that each athlete receives, the camaraderie amongst the competitors, and the extensive support of the volunteers make it a great experience. Hey, where else do race directors organize your birthday party?! |

As far as races I've trained for go:
Half - 1:45:26 Full - We'll see how Mississauga goes! |
| Favourite distance |
Each distance offers it's own challenge - maybe in a couple years I'll nail down a favourite |
| Favourite race food, drink |
Racing/running: carbooms and cliffshots, eload, gatorade, endurox
Post race: Mill Street Tankhouse or red wine and some sort of BBQ'd meat... and maybe ice cream :) |
| Running history |
I ran highschool XC for a couple years to stay in shape for soccer but didn't seriously get into running until 2007. Since then I've completed a variety of road races from 5km to half-marathons - first full in May! |

| Personal bests |
10 km - 39:52; marathon - 3:17:46 |
| Favourite distance |
My favourite distance is the marathon. Not because it is my best distance -its not- but because it tests you in so many different ways mentally and physically. Every marathon finish is special and memorable. |
| Favourite race food, drink |
Pre-Race- Bob's Red Mill extra thick cut oats. Balanced blood sugar baby! Race Fuel: Raspberry Carb Boom Race Drink: Gu Post Race Drink: Beer and/or Green Tea |
| Running history |
I've been running since 2007. I used to think marathon runners were insane. I guess I just caught the bug. I've run four Marathons since as well as a smattering of middle distance races. Running has become somewhat of an obsession. I'm consistantly learning and experimenting with my training and learning from success and failure. This event will easily be the craziest thing I've ever done to date |

My dad inspired me to take up running in 2004. Having played football and rugby for nearly 12 years, something low- impact seemed attractive. I ran my first 5K at the Billy Taylor Road Race in Guelph, and never looked back!
In 2007 I made the 'transition' to triathlon, and in 2009 I completed my first Ironman in Louisville Kentucky. |

I hated running when I first join the Canadian Forces three years ago. Now everything has changed. I am now training on my own and I find that my life has completely changed. I love the competition spirit and can find the adrenaline to push myself in that sport. I only started running to compete a year ago but I will certainty never stop. I found a beautiful sport that releases my stress and makes me a happier and healthier person. |

My goal in this ENDURrun is to finish the full event and put in respectable times for each leg. I also hope to learn some valuable lessons about running and training for such an event. Finally, I hope to meet some great runners and find some new friends in the process. |
| Personal bests |
10 km - 41:07; ½ marathon - 1:39:04; marathon - 3:28:38 |
| Favourite distance |
At the moment I would have to say that a half marathon is my favourite distance, because that is where my legs have decided my race was mostly over in my last two marathons and in a 30km race. |
| Favourite race food, drink |
I drink water, but I sometimes spike it with sugar, I also will add a dash of salt to the water and sometimes lemon juice. I munch on Larabars if the run is over 20km. |
| Running history |
Not counting my youth I have been running for about the last 10 years. I started running, because I wanted to do triathlons and well... one thing lead to another and I ran my first marathon in 2004. I find running to be a good excuse to travel, Since 2004 I have run 8 marathons and many more shorter distances. These runs have taken me to at least 4 provinces, two states and to Italy (Rome City Marathon). I enjoy races that have a community feel to them so I would say that the Cabot Trail Relay is my favourite race. I run, because I like challenges and events like the ENDURrun appeal to me as soon as I hear about them. Eventually I would like to try some ultramarathons and maybe an Ironman... if I ever get time to dust the cobwebs off my bike! |

My personal best Marathon is 4:05. I've had quicker times on 5k 10k and halfs, finishing in 21:00, 43:15 and 1:45. |
| Favourite distance |
My favourite distance is the marathon. It use to be the half prior to training for the marathon. I use to say that a 5k wasn't worth the drive to get there. I then included that expression for both the 10k and the half. |
| Favourite race food, drink |
I have experimented with several race foods, but am currently using the Power Blasts. I also usually stick with water during my runs. |
| Running history |
I started running primarily on the treadmill. In 2007 I started running outdoors with my uncle who was living with us at the time. He was the one that motivated me into running longer distances and running outdoors. It was through him that I exceeded the 5k distance, and moved on to the 10k. After a couple of 10k runs, he convinced me to try for the 10 mile. From there, the half marathon. In 2008 I moved out and was left to run on my own. I quickly went back to treadmill as I struggled to run on my own. I had lost the long distances and the strength that I had developed. A last minute decision to do the ScotiaBank Half got me back into the distance running again. I had a horrible slow time of 2:15, nearly 20 minutes slower than the year previous, but commited myself to train to achieve a better time. I joined the Running Room that year and joined the Half Marathon Clinic. Through the training and motivation of others, I achieved a personal best. This program led me to the Marathon Clinics, completing 2 Marathons in 2009. In the later in 2009, I began instructing the Half Marathon Clinic for the Pickering Running Room, to motivate others into completing their goals. Now that the clinic has ended, time to focus on my goals, and what I can achieve next. |

Gummi Bears, beer floats |
| Running history |
Started running in 2004, worked my way through to 8 marathons, and last year's ENDURrun. While it was the toughest thing I've ever done, it was also hands down the BEST race experience I've ever had. Can't wait to do it again! |

| Running history |
Skied with Uwaterloo ski team in late 90s. Did a few running races but never trained specifically for running. Joined a running club in 2003 when I moved to Albany, NY. Did my first marathon in 2005, qualified for Boston in 2006. Ran 3 Boston Marathons. Set most pbs in 2007. Would like to get back to that fitness level. |

Jacob's almost ready to sign up - he's running everywhere now. I have no doubt he'd win his age group! |

| Running history |
Running on and off most of my adult life. In 2000 started running as a regular part on my weekly routine. In 2005 ran my first Half Marathon which has ultimately lead me to the ENDURrun. Have ran over 14 races of all different distances since my first race. At the end of 2008 tore the Meniscus in my right knee and had to have half of it removed so last year was a come back year for me. I wanted to run the ENDURrun last year but felt I wasn't ready. In the future, like most runners I'd like to do Boston. Another race I've been drawn to is The Great Wall Marathon in China I think that would be an interesting and challenging race. |
