Since 2000 I've been training with my wife Joanne Bink, and remained injury free. She has helped me achieve my running goals during that time. |
| Additional comments |
The ENDURrun is what it is because of Lloyd Schmidt, his family, and the support staff. As a running event it is definitely both a physical and a mental challenge. The attention to detail, extensive support, delicious food, friendly and competitive atmosphere, carefully-designed race courses, and fantastic athletes make the ENDURrun a unique event. |

If you ask me before a race I'd say Marathon, if you ask me after a race I'd say 100m! |
| Favourite race food, drink |
Nutrition is always a challenge for me during
a race and I'd prefer to go sans-food if I could finish without it, but to
keep me going I prefer Clif Shots and e-Load. By the end of a marathon I'm
lucky if I can get my regularly scheduled water to go down! |
| Running history |
I started running in 2003, did my first race in 2004, and haven't looked back! I enjoy variety and have run everything from a "beer miler" to a 100 km Ultra, road and off road races (including trail races and mud runs), and both pure running events and navigation (both urban and off-road) events. |
| Additional comments |
I'm looking forward to adding the third ENDURrun notch to my belt! |

For years I've been a time-oriented, goal-based runner. In 2007, I achieved my 'ultimate' running goal in Philadelphia, running a sub-3 hour marathon. I look forward to discovering new limits and enjoying the challenge and sport of running. |
| Additional comments |
At first I thought that the ENDURrun was beyond me. Watching it and participating as a guest runner in 2006 gave me the courage to train, under the guidance and wisdom of Ray Nelson, as an ENDURrun 2007 Ultimate competitor. The ENDURrun is more than a race. The personal attention that each athlete receives, the camaraderie amongst the competitors, and the extensive support of the volunteers make it a great experience. Hey, where else do race directors organize your birthday party?! |

I do not consider myself a "serious" runner in that I do not run not for the sake of running, but to stay fit for other things. I have never run more than 3 or 4 times a week, so this race will be a real challenge for me! I have run 11 marathons, two ultras in the 50K range, and a bunch of shorter races. Never very fast, but I am OK with that. |

| Running history |
I've only run for 3 years, but I feel like I'd be lost if I had to stop. I still do dislike the training runs before work, but I'm growing to enjoy the long runs on Sunday afternoons - it is a great time to think about all kinds of stuff. My race total is now up to 40 races and I'm out of the Clydesdale category - look out 150lb 31-year-olds! |
| Running Inspiration |
I run because I love to eat and I hear it has some health benefits as well! |
| My Fan Club/Massage Team |
My favourite three people will be cheering me on this year and if I play my cards right they also give me a few massages: my cute wife Mel, my little runner Owen, and my 8-month old little Claire. |

| Running goal |
My 2007 running goal is to finish my first 100 miler (hopefully under 24 hrs). My first two attempts (both in 2006) ended at 60 miles and 93 miles respectively (I was at 93 miles in under 20 hrs but physically just could not continue). I learned valuable lessons from both races and will finish in 2007. |

| Running history |
I graduated from university and quit smoking in the same month in 1991, and I started running to keep from gaining weight. I ran my first marathon (Marine Corp) in 1993 and was hooked immediately. I have since finished 30 marathons (including 3 Bostons), 18 ultramarathons, and 4 ENDURruns. In hindsight my 1st ENDURrun finish in 2003 was my springboard into trail running and ultramarathoning. |

| Goal |
- to finish the race with all my limbs intact (see running history)
- to finish in time such that my family still remembers I'm running and is still waiting for me.
- If I finish, not to be last (I'm competitive); second last is okay (not that competitive.)

| Running history |
I started running late in life. The only timed run I completed was the Sporting Life 10K a few years ago. Last year, I fell in the middle of the Sporting Life Run and lost 2 teeth. (Thus, goal 1.) Last year I didn't run as I completed dental surgery. This year I'm running with a mouth guard. |
| Additional comments |
I'm a wimp in the heat. If it's too hot, I'll cheer from the sidelines. My husband and son are running. |

That's between me, the scale, and my refrigerator. |
| Goal |
Finish the marathon under 5 hours, and on the same day that I started. |
| Personal bests |
I've only done 2 marathons so far. My first marathon was Toronto many moons ago in a time of 5 hours and 30 min. My 2nd one was 2005 in a time of 5 hours and 5 minutes, although that one I did have a bit of a swim and bike beforehand as it was part of Ironman Lake Placid. |
| Favourite distance |
I love the halfs. It's long enough you really enjoy the scenery, and not too long you can't walk afterwards. I love that the marathon course is 2 loops, that's 2 halfs for the price of one! |
| Favourite race food, drink |
My favourite race drink is Eload and water. As for food, I'm still working on that one. I'm looking to replace my Power Gels, any suggestions? |
| Running history |
I've raced triathlons for over 10 years, Sprints, Olympic, Half Ironman and Ironman distance. This year decided to take a side trip and do more running. This ENDURrun seems really interesting! |

I tip my hat to all the Ultimate Participants. That's awesome you will be out there each day. You're my heros! I'm happy to be running with you for just one day. A pre-thank you to Lloyd for organizing such a crazy event. One of these days I'll be geared up to sign up for the whole week. Also thank you to all the volunteers for spending the time out there too. |
